“…..One big benefit I can say is the speed. Even the more complex TB reports run more quickly than most queries in MicroStrategy. I think another really big benefit for us is the ability to bring together the sales, inventory and planogram information into one tool. In the past this information resided in 3 different tables/databases. It would have been very challenging for a Category Manager (or anyone) to report sales and also bring in either inventory or planogram data. Similarly, the ability to cut by promotion types (as in the Price and Promo report) was more cumbersome in MicroStrategy.

From a commercialization standpoint, it has obviously made it much easier and efficient for us to provide data to vendors. A big value add for vendors has also been the inventory which they have been asking for many years.”

“I must warn you that I am a ‘data junkie’ so I love this stuff! I use ToolBox daily (for the most part) and for a variety of applications. The fact that the data is so current is fantastic, it gives me a great gauge initially on how promotions performed, how innovation is delivering, where we should focus our efforts with our retail team and how we are performing vs FCL’s performance. I use every report and appreciate the ability to see Same store sales, splits between regions, store clusters and even different COOP Associations. The Pricing and Promotion Tracker is my go – to report and then I branch out from there depending on my focus or goal. Visibility into the distribution of product through the Planogram Crosstab reports is also extremely helpful in building tools for our retail team to use, we also utilize the Sku Rank and Stores not Selling when building these tools. As you are probably aware, FCL has initiated a Category Review Process about a year ago and the ToolBox data and insights have played a huge role in the presentation decks that we prepare and present, it is so good to be able to take FCL’s own POS data in to review with them, the discussions are much more productive since the validity of the data is no longer of question.

This is by no means a comprehensive review of how much I value the data I can get from ToolBox (I haven’t even talked about the information that we use from the library including how to get the best use out of the different reports, how to use them to prepare for a top to top, even just the promotion schedule is a great reference tool). I would be remiss if I didn’t give yourself the credit you are due, every time I have a question, request or need some help understanding the data you have always been available immediately and have made sure that I get what I need. Thank you for your support I really appreciate it.
